Research project

Eindhoven University of Technology stimulates innovation in engineering education with the purpose to sustain a more demand-driven education model and support new forms of education, such as challenge-based learning. Staff members are given the opportunity and funds to execute pilots that transform and improve education. These pilots thematically link together via the TU/e educational vision and ICT solutions. They rely heavily on ICT-solutions but are not ICT-driven (see also the website boost.tue.nl).

The development of innovation is research-based: the effects of the pilots on student’ learning are carefully studied so the design of future innovations can be adapted based on the research outcomes. The focus of this postdoc project is on evidence as a foundation for current and future innovations. This evidence is collected and disseminated by means of research accompanying the pilots. The main themes of this project evolve around online learning and blended learning, virtual labs and lab-pedagogies, challenge-based learning, and learning analytics. Important research questions to be addressed are related to characteristics and effects of these approaches to higher engineering education.

The successful candidate is expected to start preferably September 1st, 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter.
